• Question: why did you want to work with fungi

      Fungi can cause lots of infections in humans from annoying athletes foot to life-threatening systemic infections (kill around 50% of people who get them)… there’s still not too much known about how some cause disease and we need new ways to diagnose the infections and desperately need new drugs!
