• Question: Whoever invented radioactive chemicals,did they die straight away from the poisoning?

      No – so they discovered radioactive chemicals as opposed to inventing them. Her name was Marie Curie, and she did eventually die of radiation sickness. She worked closed with her husband Pierre (they won a Nobel prize together) – he tragically died young in a road accident, you need long-term exposure to radiation for radiation sickness to kill you. Marie/Pierre and their daughter Irene are the only parent/child duo to have both won Nobel prizes, and Marie is the only scientist to have won Nobel prizes in two separate areas of science (Physics and Chemistry). The Nobel prize is an award given every year to people who have made a big impact in the world with their work, and there are a couple of categories for scientists.
