oooooh good question! If I changed subjects I would want to focus on a genetic condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. It is a disease that only affects boys. From a very young age, the boy’s muscles start to break down making it difficult for them to do every day activities.

The disease is caused by mutations in a gene called dystrophin which is the biggest gene in the human DNA. Scientists are looking at ways to replace the parts of the gene that are faulty which is challenging because each boy has a different type of mutation. This is something I feel very passionately about contributing to as one of my childhood best friends suffered from Duchenne.

I would do some social sciences. Trying to understand human comportment by studying the behaviour of people on social networks for example

I’ve always been really interested in working with prisoners – I love working with them in a scientific way to try and figure out what we can do to help them. But I think if I wasn’t doing that, I probably wouldn’t actually be in another area of science – I’d probably have gone down a law route or something like that to work with offenders in another way.

I really love cognitive neuroscience, the brain is an amazing organ. So I think I would have gone done something related to that 🙂

I think climate change or plastics pollution, because I think these are really important problems for us to tackle, and you could make a really big difference to people all over the world by working on them.

I think I would like to work as a biomechanic engineer and design prosthetic limbs. I think its amazing what can be done these days to help people who have lost a limb. Such a rewarding thing to be part of.
