• Question: How many bacteria are there in space and does gravity take them down, also are there any bacteria on venus or mercury since venus is the horrest and mercury is the coldest? Also, do bacteria sleep and are there any bacteria in acid? I am really hoping that you answer my qiestions ASAP. Thank you, Sardine Alpha

Hi! Well, we haven’t found bacteria yet in space (they are subject to gravity as well), nor on Venus or Mars… However, some simple molecules that you could find also on Earth were recently found on Mars, but we don’t know where they come from! There are some bacteria called extremophiles that like to live in “extreme conditions”, which means very very high or very very low temperature, and also in very acidic environments, where pH can be lower than 1 (much much more acidic than lemon juice!).
Not sure if bacteria “sleep” as we mean it, I hope one of my colleagues can answer to that last question =)
