I really hope other forms of life exist elsewhere in the Universe, and I really hope we will find an answer to your question at some point, while I am still alive =)
I don’t do research which could help discover aliens, but I like to think some form of live must exist other than on earth. I’m afraid I don’t think they will look like the pictures of Martians we often see!
There is a famous argument that alien’s do exist known as the Drake equation. It’s a mathematical equation that estimates a very high probability that aliens do exist somewhere. The other side of this coin has become famously known as the Fermi paradox. It essentially says: “If there is such a high probability and we’ve all been looking very hard – where are the aliens?!”. We’re only just beginning to understand the size of the universe (we’re very bad at understanding very big and very small things because we evolved in the middle). These two opposing arguments have led to the idea that we might just be too far away in space and time to ever meet aliens…
I like to think that there are other life forms out in the universe somewhere. Although what they would look like or if we’d even be able to detect them is a whole other question!
