• Question: do you believe that people who work hard will get where they want to be even though they are not naturally clever at sciences?

      I think that hard work does a lot – I have never thought that sciences were naturally my strong suit, and to be honest I think that helps a lot with a PhD because if something goes wrong I just go back to the drawing board and do it again – you need to be used to failing. Lots of people assume that they won’t get good grades etc because they think they aren’t “naturally clever”, but I think working hard does tend to get you decent grades regardless. Also you have to be open to getting where you want to be but a different way – for example, if you want to study at a particular university but don’t get in there, maybe you will wind up studying there for a PhD or a Master’s degree later on.
