Okay so my nerdy answer is that all of us are probably superhumans, because the average healthy person carries a couple of mutations that have been known to cause disease in people. We just also carry other genetic variants that means we’re healthy. I think that’s cool – there’s so much to genetics we still don’t understand, and also, if we study some people’s protective genetic variants we could learn how to treat/cure the diseases that get caused in other people without protective variants.

My answer is that some people do have super-abilities. For example, some people are particularly good at memorising, some people are super-multi-taskers (people are actually pretty bad at multi-tasking), there is a lot of research in Psychology about these super-humans!

Something else we could think about is that some of the super powers we are used to think of can actually be “real”. For example, there are some scientists that are studying a way to deflect light, so that something can actually be “invisible”… Also, some scientists are developing insulator materials so that we can survive to very low or high temperatures when wearing it… So hopefully in the future if we’ll also be superheroes =)

Probably not in the sense of the Marvel Universe…but biology is amazing and if you think about it, we are all genetically different, we all carry mutations so we are all X-Men :). There are also some people with extraordinary abilities, such as those with synethsesia who can ‘see’ sounds as colours. Or people who can knit 😀
