• Question: why does chlorine hurt your eyes?

      Chlorine strips away the film that protects your cornea (which is the transparent layer at the front of your eye), which makes your eyes susceptible to irritation from all the bits of dirt floating around in the water.

      Alex has answered this one, and to add that the amount of chlorine in water can increase the rate and irritation that this can cause
