We carry out lots of different research into all sorts of diseases including those that don’t have vaccines. Recently we have been looking into virus which causes norovirus (the vomiting bug) as this has a big impact on the NHS because it is so easily spread.

The more we learn about how different diseases work the better chance we have at developing a vaccine or a cure.

Fun fact: The HPV vaccine was developed following studies with rabbits as they get a rabbit version of the disease and we were able to figure out how it works so we could create a vaccine for the human one to help prevent against cervical cancer.
