My favourite aspect of my job is that although I am office/desk based no two days are the same as I have lots of different projects and meetings. I also love my job in the hope that one day the research I help with will make a different/help people. I got interested in my job while studying for a maths degree. Up until then I wasn’t even aware you could do a job like mine.

My favourite part of my job is making new discoveries that hopefully one day in the future might help somebody.
I originally was interested in Psychology because I had some difficulties with my mental health as a teenager and was helped greatly by some Child Psychologists. This inspired me initially to train to become a Child Psychologist. Somewhere down the line though I decided that I actually preferred the research side of things instead of the practicing side of things. I just love being able to find stuff out which can help improve people’s mental health in the future!

I love talking with people, like yourselves, about science! I love going to conferences, seeing different people’s work and chatting to them about research. That is why I am really loving this MRC Festival, it is a great opportunity for you and for us to talk, question and reflect. I never even considered doing a PhD until I did a research assistant post and was talking to one of the leads on the project (now my supervisor!) and now I am so glad I have gone down this route! 🙂
