Hmm good question! I think it depends on how you define ‘amazing’. For me, I think it would be a piece of research which found that we could effectively ‘teach’ school children how to talk about and recognise their emotions. This is important because the research that I’m doing suggests that people that can’t talk about and recognise their emotions are more likely to be suicidal and / or aggressive. So, this could help society because we could teach children at a young age how to effectively communicate their emotions, and this can lower the rates of risky behaviours such as suicide and aggression, but also a whole other range of adverse mental health outcomes such as depression and anxiety.

Something I think is pretty amazing is that we have discovered that a bacteria could stop the spread viruses by mosquitoes! Its called wolbachia and is a common bacteria in insects, with the exception of mosquitoes that spread viruses. If you give the bacteria to these mosquitoes, it acts to stop viruses multiplying in the mosquito which means that the disease cannot spread. As there are currently no treatments for a lot of the virus infections and mosquitoes are developing insecticide resistance, using the bacteria to stop viruses spreading could save thousands of lives.
