• Question: In the future, is it possible that we will evolve into water creatures if global warming continues?

      Sadly, it takes thousands of years for humans to evolve, and global warming is a very immediate threat. There isn’t time for us to evolve into sea creatures!

      It took about 30bil years for fish to evolve legs to walk on land. If we assume the same is true in reverse, then we would be so far evolved, we wouldn’t be human any more – we’d be something else all together. Also, if we were going to evolve into sea creatures, it wouldn’t be because of global warming because the time scale of that would be decades or centuries.

      I think that it would be much easier for us to do something about our impact on climate change than it would be for us to grow a set of gills!
