• Question: Hey, I want to do psychology for GCSE. I was wondering, when we study this, will the subject of mental illness/suicide come up? If so, how much do we learn about it approximately? Thank you!

Heya! Cool that you’re interested in studying Psychology for GCSE! I would say definitely mental health will come up – from my memory there’s a module of GCSE Psychology called ‘Abnormal Psychology’ which basically focusses on anything that is outside of ‘normal’ functioning. This can include a whole range of mental illnesses such as schozophrenia, anxiety and depression. From memory I don’t think there’s any specific material on suicide but I’m sure your Psychology teacher would Ben happy to help you to learn a bit more about this if you asked. For what it’s worth I absolutely LOVED studying psychology at GCSE – I found it absolutely fascinating! Hope that helps 🙂
