Question: Do you ever feel bad for the prisoners?

Yes I think it’s difficult not to really. I try as much as possible to view each prisoner I speak to as an individual, the same as you or me, and forget the crime that they’ve committed – I think this is really important in making sure that I develop an open relationship which makes participants feel like they can talk to me freely. This is key to getting good interview data.
